On November 18, 2022, A. E. Kulakovsky Peoples' Friendship House hosted a round table "Family traditions of indigenous peoples of the North: the role of the family in preserving the native language and culture" in the framework of republican events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) "On Languages in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)". The event was held by the Ministry for the Development of the Arctic and the Affairs of the Peoples of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The participants of the event were representatives of families – native speakers and keepers of the native language and culture, heads and teachers of educational institutions, including nomadic schools, representatives of the scientific community, public organizations of indigenous minorities of the North and government officials.

The discussion was moderated by E.A. Krivoshapkina, chief expert of the UNESCO Chair at M. K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University, Deputy Chairman of the NGO "Union of Even people", member of the Coordinating Council of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The event was held in order to develop a mechanism of family support to the families that speak and preserve their native language and culture and families that engage in other activities aimed at preserving their language and culture.

The participants of the event got acquainted with the experience of said families, discussed issues related to the role of the family in preserving the native language and cultural heritage of their people, made suggestions and recommendations related to the issues under consideration.

Following the results of the Round Table, a resolution was adopted containing recommendations and proposals aimed at developing a mechanism of family support.
