Scientific expedition to the Srednekolymsky district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

   From November 5 to 9, 2024, a scientific expedition was held in the city of Srednekolymsk, Srednekolymsky district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) as part of the project "Digitalization of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic".

   In order to implement the project objectives, a lot of work was done to collect linguistic, folklore and ethnographic materials from native speakers of the Even language and culture. The expedition participants met with the head of the district, Ivan Vasilyevich Laptev, where they talked about the purpose of their visit, shared their plans and began work on collecting linguistic, folklore and ethnographic material.

   Great support provided in the work of the expedition group the Chair of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Srednekolymsky District - Oktyabrina Ruslanovna Novoseltseva..

   Part of the expedition group actively worked in the municipal ulus museum from November 5 to 7, where unique ethnographic materials related to the Even culture were discovered and described.
Additionally, work was carried out to collect information in the municipal archive and city library. A career guidance lecture for graduates and a consultation for schoolchildren and their scientific supervisors on participation in scientific and practical conferences were held at the Srednekolymsk school.
Based on the results of the expedition work in the Srednekolymsky district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) from November 5 to 9, extensive linguistic and folklore material was collected, unique ethnographic artifacts were found and valuable, previously unpublished information was obtained.

   The expedition participants:

  1. Vitaly Vitalievich Ivanov - coordinator of the expedition group, junior researcher at the International Research Laboratory "Linguistic Ecology of the Arctic".
  2. Alexey Vasilievich Nikiforov - the director of the computer and information center of the NEFU Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.
  3. Varavina Galina Nikolaevna - Candidate of Historical Sciences, researcher at the Institute of Humanitarian Research and Problems of Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
