In this video Maxim Ilyich Dutkin, Even storyteller-nimkalan, Honoured Worker of Culture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) tells about his family Dyotkil, customs, way of life of tundra Even, talks about the role of childhood in the formation of personality, notes the value of the traditions of education of small peoples of the North.

Maxim Ilyich spent his childhood in a nomadic family of reindeer herders on the vast tundra in the Allaihovsky district. From a small age he absorbed the depth and beauty of his native Even language, the breadth of his soul and the wisdom of his ancestors. His grandparents, father and mother taught him all the wisdom of nomadic life in a reindeer herding camp, passed on the secrets of hunting and fishing. Listening to their stories, legends, fairy tales, songs he absorbed oral and songful folk art and, later on, fell in love with such genre as chanting. Maksim Ilyich's songs and all his creative work are woven from beautiful memories of his childhood, his relatives, knowledge of the world around him and folk wisdom.

Maksim Ilyich remembers with great respect his teachers and lecturers who took him into the world of knowledge and helped him with his professional development.
