Round table "Dolgan language and culture: from the Yeniseн to the Anabar"
As part of the social project "From Yenisey to Anabar", on October 01, 2025, the Dolgans of Taymyr and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) organized a round table "Dolgan language and culture: from Yenisey to Anabar". The meeting was organized by the Taymyr Dolgano-Nenetsky Municipal District of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University, the Khatanga Folk Art Center (Taymyr) and the Dudinka City Folk Art Center (Taymyr).
At the opening of the Round Table, greetings were delivered by Konstantin V. Robbek, Commissioner for the Rights of the Northern indigenous peoples of Yakutia, President of the Association of the Northern indigenous peoples of Yakutia, Mikhail Alexandrovich Pogodaev, Vice Minister for the Development of the Arctic and Affairs of Peoples of the North of Yakutia, Solovyov Evgeniy Eduardovich, NEFU Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Gavril Grigorievich Torotoev, Director of the NEFU Institute of Languages and Culture of the Peoples of the Russian North-East, Olga Fedorovna Timofeeva-Tereshkina, Chairman of the Dolgan Association of Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Aksinya Egorovna Spiridonova, Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation, Dolgan poetess and honorary resident of the Anabarsky Ulus of Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

The substantive part of the Round Table began with a report by Anna Alekseevna Barbolina, leader of the Taymyr delegation, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, leading methodologist of the Taymyr House of Folk Art, who noted the decline in the use of words related to nature and everyday life of the past and the importance of transmitting the wisdom of older generations to young people. Anna Alekseevna is one of the main engines of the Dolgan writing and language, so she shared with the participants the history of the development of the Dolgan language, the alphabet of which was established in 1979.

Pelageya Ivanovna Tuprina, an assistant at the Department of Northern Philology of the NEFU, spoke about the life and development of the Dolgan language and culture in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In general, there is active activity in the field of educational and methodological work for the Dolgan language, an elective course in the Dolgan language is conducted at the Yuryung-Khaya village school of the Anabar ulus, Anabar Dolgans have developed decorative and applied arts, and cartoons are expected to be released in Dolgan.
Participants of the round table also got acquainted with the famous correspondent of TV and radio broadcasting in the Dolgan language of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, Vitaly Porotov, who spoke about his experience working in the media as a representative of the Arctic indigenous people and introduced the history of Dolgan broadcasting in Taymyr, which dates back to the 1970s.

Vinokurova Ulyana Alekseevna, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies and Cultural Heritage of the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Art presented an interesting concept on the ecotecture of the village of Saaskylakh in the Anabar Dolgan-Evenki National District of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). This concept proposes to equip the area to which a certain people settle, focusing on their cultural traditions, the experience of interacting with local nature, the experience of speaking in their native language and other aspects of the uniqueness of this people, in general, the area should reflect and represent the culture of the locals.
In 2026, the Dolgan language will become part of a major scientific project of the Russian Science Foundation "Languages and Cultures of the peoples of the North and the Arctic of Russia: comprehensive socio-humanitarian research (based on big data)". Ninel Vasiliyevna Malysheva, project coordinator, Doctor of Philology, leading researcher at the NEFU International Research Laboratory for Linguistic Ecology of the Arctic, shared the history, plans of the project and the place of the Dolgan language in the project. The speaker expressed a hope that study of linguistics of the Dolgan language will be able to open up a new perspective on the ethnogenesis of Dolgans and help in training personnel to study the Dolgan language and culture.

Victoria V. Filippova, Candidate Degree in History, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Humanitarian Studies and Problems of Indigenous Peoples of the North, the Yakut Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Science, spoke about the anthropology of the cultural landscape of the Khatango-Anabar region in the XX and early XXI centuries. The presentation showed the territorial dynamics of the Anabar district and the Taymyr region of the Dolgan settlement since the XX century. The sad fact of the reduction of reindeer husbandry among the Taymyr Dolgans in the area of the village of Khatanga was noted. The researchers also covered the toponymy of the territory, where it turned out that half of the names of the populations are of Turkic origin.
Mesoregional differences between the Khatanga land and the Anabar land have been identified, which are reflected in the culture and language of one people. Scientists have identified the following local landscapes: Dolgan South Khatanga, Dolgan North Khatanga, Dolgan-Evenki-Saskylakhsky and Dolgan Yuryung-Khainsky.
Daria Burnasheva, Associate Professor of the Department of Folk Art Culture and Socio-Cultural Activities, gave the final report on the educational project "Creative Arctic: developing sought-after skills in creative pursuits." This project helps Arctic youth develop skills that are in demand in the creative industry, taking into account their cultural traditions and native language. Fragments from the film "OGDO" about the famous Dolgan poetess Ogdo (Evdokia) Egorovna Aksenova were also shown at the round table. Asya Konstantinova,
