The Pride of the Nation Award is the flagship project of the All-Russian public and State Organization The Assembly of the Peoples of Russia. The purpose of the competition is to activate the activities of civil society institutions working in the field of national relations, to motivate the personal participation of Russian citizens in various activities aimed at preserving and developing ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity, and strengthening interethnic harmony and unity of the Russian nation.
The Award was emphasized for the high demand and the timeliness of the noted projects in 2024 by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. President sent an appeal to the laureates, and the relevant document was posted on the Kremlin's official portal.
The award is included in the Action Plan for the implementation in 2024-2026 of the Foundations of state Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian spiritual and Moral Values (approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 07/01/2024 No. 1734–r), in the Action Plan for the implementation in 2024-2026 of the Concept of Preservation and Development of the Intangible Ethno-cultural Heritage of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 (approved by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation T.A. Golikova on 28.08.2024).
Traditionally, the Award has seven nominations.: "For the contribution to ensuring civil unity and interethnic harmony", "For the contribution to the preservation and development of the culture of the peoples of Russia", "For best practices in the field of national relations", "For the contribution to the preservation and development of native languages", "For the contribution to the information support of state national policy", "For effective leadership in national cultural associations", "Generation Um". In 2025, the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great War, a special nomination was established - "One-for-all".
In 2025, the competition will be implemented for the 6th time. During the five years of the project's existence, it has rewarded 108 laureates — linguists, ethnographers, cultural scientists, educators, journalists, independent bloggers, filmmakers, public figures and volunteers whose work contributed to strengthening the national unity of the Russian Federation. In 2024, the winners of the awards were representatives of all federal districts of the country — from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. Their projects have gained national fame, gained the support of like-minded people and prominent public and political figures, and are successfully developing to this day.
Thus, Russian scientist and writer Zhanna Andrievskaya, having become the 2021 laureate in the nomination "For her contribution to the information support of state national policy", managed to scale the publication of her book series "Amazing Russia". Today, by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zhanna Andrievskaya has been included in the list of modern classics of Russian literature. The circulation of her books on the culture and traditions of the peoples of Russia has been distributed to all school libraries in the country.
The project "Embroidered Map of Russia", presented by the Chuvash National Museum, became the winner of the 2022 Award in the nomination "For the best project of national and cultural associations in the field of interethnic relations", after which it gained national fame and became the hallmark of the International Exhibition-Forum "Russia" at VDNH. In 2025, the grand opening of the Museum of the Embroidered Map of Russia took place in the Republic of Chuvashia, where 84 panels with traditional embroidery of the peoples of the Russian Federation are on display today.
In 2024, the Organizing Committee of the Award established a special nomination "Defenders of the Fatherland". It was awarded to the large Goldov family from the Republic of Adygea, which brings up 13 children. The head of the family, two sons, a daughter and her husband are participants in a special military operation. To bring the whole family together at the award ceremony, including those who were "behind the ribbon," the Award organizers enlisted the support of the Presidential Administration and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Thanks to the efforts made, the entire Goldov family arrived in Moscow, where they organized a meeting with Anna Tsivileva , State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, were awarded a cash prize of five million rubles, and also provided a joint holiday during the New Year holidays.
Traditionally, the Pride of the Nation Award ceremony is held in Moscow on the eve of National Unity Day. The award winners are awarded by actors of state national policy – Chairman of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, Head of the United Russia political party faction in the State Duma Vladimir Vasiliev, Magomedsalam Magomedov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, Igor Barinov, Head of the Federal Academy of Medical Sciences of Russia, Konstantin Derevyanko, head of the portal "Gramota.ru", Irina Karikh , Deputy General Director of the Russian Society "Znanie" and others.
Traditionally, famous public and political figures, opinion leaders, scientists, artists, musicians, writers and bloggers gather at the State Academic Maly Theater to honor the laureates. Among the presenters and speakers of the award ceremony are popular Russian performers and actors such as Pelageya, Tatiana Kurtukova, Vlad Malenko, Valeria Lanskaya, Vyacheslav Makarov, and the Sretensky Monastery Choir.
In 2025, the members of the Organizing Committee of the competition announced the holding of Interregional stages of the Pride of the Nation Award in all federal districts of the country.
Participants and winners of the Interregional Stage can apply for the Award at the federal level. The members of the Organizing Committee of the competition do not exclude the possibility of potential applicants to win recognition at both the interregional and federal stages of selection.
Applications for participation in the Interregional stage will be accepted by September 30. The celebrations honoring the Winners of the Interregional District Stages will end on October 15 this year.
